Keystone says surge protector. I would think if it was a EMS they would say so. I installed a 50 amp hardwired EMS from Progressive. Can't tell you how many times it has saved our butts. Over voltage, under voltage, bad neutral, bad ground, spikes.
I installed mine behind the fuse/breaker panel so it protects the gen. power also. You can cut the power cable, but I went to Home Depot and bought a short piece of cable and screwed it to the floor. Well worth the $300 I paid.
