can't tell you much about the other states but on the early part of the states in Michigan you go into the states through the SOO. several campgrounds on river there and a casino where you can stay. Marquette also has a casino with electric. just enjoy the UP.
There also is the SPAM Museum in MN....way cool. If you are near this place worth a stop.
