My front door under the fifth wheel overhang does the same some times. I discovered that if I slide the door to the right so that the hinge hits a stop screw, the door will then close and latch properly. Sometimes it's only a 1/4" or less of movement, but that's all it takes.

You may have to try sliding both ways to get it to work.
