The years in the canvas was at the round part that holds the cables. Ours the a/c was controlled in the ceiling on the unit . Good luck

Oh yes towed fine but I would recommend a sway bar.

Ours was the flexible pipe they use. Just a thought to check and run new rigid pipe in place and have the dealer install some closing / adjustable grates in the floor.

Fifth wheels have more under storage for sure. Our cougar had a ton of room under the bed area to do what you want to do with the cats. There are also cat and dog ideas on trailer life. Good luck
