I had the same exact issue. I came to the conclusion that I may have sanded the gears too much, because a brand new set of gears fixed the issue.

My Raptor 381 has 6. I actually have the opposite issue, my ramp levitates about 4-6" off the ground when opened, even with the extra weight of the patio rails on it.
