It may be a faulty sail switch. If the furnace is lighting, attempting to come up to speed and then shutting down it may be this switch.

Frankly, I wouldn't spend much time trying to "repair" the cables, but rather replace them. They are available online or at your dealer/rvparts store and the replacement is a pretty straight forward...
