Def
I purchased what they call refractometer ( I think ) and test the def before
i use it. The meter is made for DEF. It lets you know if the def is good.

I used some flat sheet metal, made patterns then cut the metal to fit snug.
then I used some flex-seal to seal it up and it works great.

Drain
Now that Ive taken the loop out it hangs out about 18 to 20 inches,I will be trimming the hose. I suppose they did not want to take the time to trim it at the factory.

Water heater
We replaced a 6 gallon heater in our Cougar 28RKS with a tankless, a little more money but as long as you have propane and 12 volts you can stay in the shower as long as you want. No added weight.
