Hello to all. We just got back from the Atlanta RV Show. First let me say that we saw some awesome floor plans and new features. It is exciting to see new things happening in the industry. Here are a few things that we saw on the positive side.

1. Dometic digital thermostats. None in any Keystones. There were a good many other manufacturers that had the digital thermostat.
2. Heater and AC ducts in the bathroom. Ahhhhhhh, someone was listening.
3. Spare tires OFF the back bumper. We saw a good many that were mounted in front under the A frame. They were using the Lippert winch system.
4. A good many of the TT seemed to be higher off the ground. My take is that the axles are already flipped. The downside is that they did not adjust the design of the steps. Some them had a pretty steep first step.
5. We saw a good many brands that are carrying the Toshiba tv instead of the Sansui.

Ok, that was just some of the things we saw. I'm sure there may be more that I will remember. After seeing so many, a lot of them stated to run together. Ok, now for the bad and very disappointing. Keystone had a good showing............BUT, NOT A SINGLE SOLITARY OUTBACK WAS THERE! What gives? We were hoping to start looking at some other TT's and maybe upgrade a down the road. Alas, there were none to look at. Now I don't know why, but when I asked a couple of Keystone dealer reps, many said that they have dropped the Outback line or just had a dumb look on there face. Speaking of dumb looks, I had a conversation with one Keystone dealer and it drifted to what we would like to see changed. The first thing out of my mouth was the analog thermostat and why Keystone won't spend a few extra dollars and change to a digital thermostat. I told him that changing the thermostat to digital was the 1st mod that took place on our Outback. He looked at me funny and said that he had "never" heard of any complaints about the thermostat. I gave him this site and several others to check and to do a search for thermostat replacement and do a little reading. We also talked about the bumper and why they were so cheap and cheaply made. He smiled and agreed that hey were but had no sugestions. He said at that dealer when a customer states that they are going to put a bike rack on, that they will beef them up and weld supports on for the customer. Hmmmmmmm, really? I wonder.

Anyway, we had a good time in spite of the fact that we saw no Outbacks.

Any feedback or thoughts?

Bo

Bo, I can understand your disappointment in not seeing any Outback RVs at the Atlanta show. There are only 1 Outback dealer near Atlanta. Camping Time RV. They have locations in Woodstock and Oakwood. According to their websites, they only have 4 Outbacks, a 250RS, 312BH in Woodstock and a 210RS and a 301BQ in Oakwood.

Most RV shows are dealer sponsored, not factory sponsored, so it may be that Camping Time RV didn't participate in the Atlanta show this year. That would probably exclude Outback from having any trailers there since the next nearest dealer is Dandy RV in Anniston, AL, about 100 miles away.

By the way, Dandy RV had 12 Outbacks on the lot when I did an inventory search. If you're looking for a new Outback, it might be worth the drive to look at their inventory since they had more on the ground there than in all of the Atlanta area combined...

I don't think the poster would be looking for a new Outback, as his sig says he has a 2012 - then again, you never know..........

No we are not looking for a new one, but it is cool to see what is coming down the road. Plus it was just fun to browse the other manufacturers. Ya never know what might spark a mod, lol.

Have heat in our 2008 bathroom, in fact, when the heat is running the door has to be open or I'm afraid the plastic conveniences will melt....:)

Took the wheel off the back bumper and stand it in the tongue..... Mr Bungee is my friend. (the hd rubber ones)

"Camping World" is who you are referring to in Atlanta. We left for western sunny skies here in AZ so we missed the show this year. RV World of Georgia, (Buford) a first class operation, also carries a limited supply of Outbacks. We bought ours at national RV show. (Louisville) Made a deal we could live with and they never saw our trade in. Since the dealer and the manufacturer were side by side, they kicked in some incentive to the dealer to sell the show unit.

We are out here at Eagle View RV Resort in Ft McDowell, AZ and have a spot overlooking the beautiful "Red Mountains"; 2 miles from Fountain Hills, AZ and breathtaking beauty, western style. Guy next door has the largest "Fuzion" toyhauler. Lot's of different units around. Interesting, to say the least.

Now off to the Indian Casino for some great "cheap" steaks. Well, not if you consider the 200 gallons of diesel to get here!

Is having digital thermostats in Keystones unusual? When I first walked through our new Passport 2850RL, one of the wonderful surprises was that it has a Dometic digital thermostat. I was completely prepared to install a digital as I have on my previous two campers. But I have happily been freed from that task.

Yes, I was surprised also. It was cool to see the digital thermostats in a good portion of the different manufacturers.

Maybe it depends on Models. We have the Dometic Digital Comfort Control Center Thermostat with dual zones for the two ACs, if running both you can set them for different temps. Our Montana is a 2010

What puzzles me is an RV salesman that doesn't know how much that DuoTherm analog thermostat is disliked by RVer's in general.

I can tell you that the digital upgrade mod has been around for quite a few years now and has been discussed on RV forums dating back a good eight to ten years now.

This isn't a new thing at all.

LMAO, that's the dumb look I got when I talked to the RV sales rep about the old analog thermostats
