Yosemite area rv parks

We are looking to travel to Yosemite this summer. I need some recommendations for rv parks outside of the park. Full hookups and room for for slides are a must. Any suggestions appreciated.

I think that place was booked up when we went to Yosemite in June 2010; so we stayed at Mariposa Fairgrounds. It was $25 a night for full hook ups.
No a campground by any means - it is a grass field with hook ups. There is more than one area to stay at within the fairgrounds.

It is in town so you can get gas and eat easily.

It is about 20 miles or so from Yosemite.....I think we were there 3 nights.
It is on Highway 49.

Thousand trails has public sites, and is 3 miles outside the gates.

we stayed at yosemite pines last fall, once school starts it isn't very full, actually, once school starts it's almost empty during the week, a few more campers on the weekend. I'd stay there again during the off season, but not sure it would be a good site during peak season.

1) it's about 30 minutes from the park in the off season with no traffic. I'll bet in the summer it's a much longer drive.
2) Many sites are big enough for slides on both sides, (Good), plenty long, 60' +, surrounded by trees (good), many seperate areas (good). Restrooms were clean, pool was clean and nice. but the campground and roads are all gravel. my guess in the summer it probably get's pretty dusty. We had some rain while we were there in Sept/Oct, so there was no dust. In the top area, probably 50 sites, never more than 6 sites full in the two weeks we were there.
3) if you want to use it as a base to also go north to gold country, it's reasonably quick and easy to go north and make a very nice day trip north to gold country.

So if you go during the off season it is a good choice. During peak season, I suspect most every place is going to be very crowded.

We went by the Thousand trails site, look much more cramped, but closer to the park.

we did lot's of looking, and in reality, there really aren't very many choices for full hookup campgrounds outside (or inside for that matter) but close to the park. For the number of visitors I was expecting many more campgrounds outside the park. Similar experience at Lassen.
