We are traveling with new trailer towers this week to French creek park Pa and have 2 choices on our route. 15 to Harrisburg to 76 or 15-30-222. The newbies are not thrilled with interstate driving just yet and I’m no fan of Harrisburg, that leaves the alternate. It’s been a while since I’ve driven 30 and 222, at least 15 years. Is anyone familiar with the best route to take? I’m concerned 30 and 222 will be stop and go. We will be traveling after 9 am from Frederick.

What little I've seen of 15 was pretty good, but I was driving a rent car not a RV.
Google is showing only 5 minutes difference. If your friends are scared of the interstate I would do 15.

I will say the Pennsylvania turnpike, I-76, was a challenge the week before last with my cabover. Pouring down rain and 18 wheelers flying. And $23 in tolls. Glad I didn't take the 5th.

Wantoride, Howdy;

Nice of you the help show a new guy "the ropes".

PennDOT used to have a Commercial Drivers map at the Welcome centers, I'm
talking back near 2000. Now with GPS I think they've gone computer with that
stuff. Might check the website and the first rest stop over the Line. There are
some sections of 30 that are length restricted (more to the West I think), been awhile.
Yea, some stop an go on 30/222, but it also gets the new guy used to stopping
and starting as it is quite a bit different then when not towing. Longer to get out
and needing to start a stop sooner...

Good luck don't be to hard on the fella we were all there once.

Thanks guys. I know 15 is a breeze and will probably take 30. The rest area at Gettysburg should be able to give us some insight but for now I think we’ll take 30-222. We went thru Harrisburg about 4 week’s ago and it was a mess, don’t really want to traumatize the newbies
