Can I take firewood from Canada to USA? Can't really find much info on this? I know I can't take the foods, meats, etc.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Honestly it's not worth the hassle at the border. There's a 50/50 chance that they will keep it at the border. If they don't then they make you do a writeup about where the wood came from, that you are sure if doesn't any insects, etc. We did it a couple time and now we just find it when we are down there.

I'm inclined to say NO as most States are trying to stop the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer. A pesky bug that is killing alot of trees here in the States.
There are al ton of posters out and about that advise folks to NOT transport fire wood more than 50 miles from where it was cut.

Thanks for Asking;

You can take "firewood" into the U.S. as long as it is finished lumber/wood. If you have cuttings from 2x4's, etc., those are ok -- just don't take anything you might have cut or chopped down out in the bush.
You are also allowed to take certain food products across. Check with US Customs and Immigration - Border Security - to find out what food products are allowed. Except for our food staples, we have found that it is much easier just to buy most of our groceries when we get across the line into the US. What you can and can't bring across changes so often that it is just too much of a hassle.
If you have a pet (a dog, for example...), be careful here. Fido's chow has to be in its original container, no lamb ingredients, and no prohibited ingredients. But what about the dog biscuit that he gets from the border guy? Just too many ever-changing rules and regs.

AND be sure you have the pooches RABIES VAC. Certificate. The whole shot record is even better.

Can't bring Rascal back into the States without it...
