Just an FYI to let everyone know who may be passing through the area that the I-10 near Desert Center, CA has partially re-opened in both directions by diverting eastbound traffic to one side of the westbound bridge in order to allow two-way traffic—one lane in each direction which was previously closed because of an eastbound bridge collapse. (http://www.desertsun.com/story/news/2015/07/19/desert-center-bridge-collapse/30395123/). Be prepared for a possible delay at this bridge.

You can choose to use these alternate routes, (http://www.desertsun.com/story/news/2015/07/20/whats-next-interstate-10-bridge/30402757/) but this will add approx. 2.5 hours to your travel time. This is a link to CALTRANS Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/caltrans8)which will have some of the latest info. A map of alternate routes-
