I am trying to find out what would be a good power supply for my travel trailer. The old power supply was a 40 amp and 29yrs. old. With the new converter/charger type supplies do you need a battery in the trailer to use the power supply? My trailer is parked on the lake where I plan to stay. I understand that I will need the battery if I move the trailer for the break away switch. For your info the trailer is a 1982 28ft Sprinter fully restored front to back top to bottom.

Here's the manual for the WF8900 power converter: http://eaa1358.com/Passport/Inverter%20Converter/wf8900.pdf I think these are used in the 30amp wired trailers, it was what came OEM with the Passport that we had. I think this one is billed as 55amp.
