I am getting ready to replace the Towmax tires. I see conflicting reviews on which tire is better. I have 225/75r15 which I want to replace with a ten ply e-rated tire.
Suggestions please?:)

I've not had any Carlisles but have had Maxxis on two different 5th wheels and have been very satisfied with them. No problems over the years so I wouldn't hesitate recommending them to you.

Very difficult to get Maxxis tires in eastern Canada so I went with the Carlisles. Put over 7,000 miles on them this year and I'm quite happy with them.

I've run Carlisles on several trailers over the years and have NEVER had a problem. I'll be buying the F load range for my 5er in the next couple months. I've never owned Maxxis, but with the reviews I wouldn't hesitate to buy them, but they don't make an F load range tire, so I'm sticking with Carlisle.

I pondered the same (my trailer uses same size). Then I found that some Carlisle tires are made in China and their made in USA ones for that size only go up to load range D. Because of this, I'm opting for Maxxis.

edit - be sure your rims are rated to handle the higher pressure of load range E.

Carlisles have been the tire to trust as far as I'm concerned. I've got a triple axel 5'er and the end tire takes the worst of it. The carlisles have held up very well. Happy Pulling!"bouncey:

I bet every one has a tire story to tell and not all great end results Me Yes had many tires fail but My fault Lead foot ....Trailer tires have a speed stamp of 65mph and on a hot road less mph is better ....I run about 65mph tops and have not had a blow out in years ..So it must have a point to make when 65mph tops ...air at max psi ...10ply under 5 years old and My tires are Carlisle so for what it is I think it works for Me :D Bushman

We bought our fiver new, put Maxxis on it within months.

Second set of Maxxis about 2 years ago.

We still have our fiver!

Maxxis all the way.

Have a nice day,

When something happens too often, it becomes a pattern. I've heard way too many stories about how TOWMAX tire seem to blow out, even while still fairly new. It was because of this that I switched my still-new TOWMAX tires to Maxxis. So my recommendation would be to get a set of reliable tires for which there are many happy customers, whether Carlisles or Maxxis or something else - but avoid TOWMAX like the plague!

Maxxis tires on order from Discount Tire a few days ago with only ~2000 on the China Bombs. Not taking any chances.

I've been running everything from GY Marathons to Duro's to Towmax to Greenballs to Maxxis & Trailer Kings that we have on now. In the 30 + years of trailering we've never had a blowout.. Had the mickey mouse fender supports peel some thread off one of the Duro's. We try to put 4-6 yrs of wear on each set. Maybe we've been lucky.. we take very good care of em, checking pressure every morning & we try & stay 1000 to 1500 #'s under GVWR. We also put in the neighborhood of 5-6000 miles a year on em. So we must be doing sumthin right.

Although they did not mention trailer tires specifically, this seems to be an overall problem with Chinese tires. Hankook is building a plant in Tennessee. Wonder if they might opt to build a trailer tire here in the states.

All Chinese tires are not created equal. Some Carlisle trailer tires are made in China as well as Sailun. Both are quality tires with good reputations. I had trailer kings on my 310 for about 10,000 miles without any issues. Maxis tires are owned by Chen Shin Rubber Co who has plants all over including China. Don't overload your rv, watch the tire pressure like a hawk and watch your speed to get the most out of any tire.

Just ordered Maxxis from my local Jeep dealer. Just drove 150 miles and when I looked at the tires one had a bubble the size of an apple on it. Put on spare and going to Jeep dealer on Friday to have tires installed.
Thanks for the good advice.
