For me I have loaded and unloaded psi for the tires. we are talking trucks that are made to carry alot of wt. right? The tires will not last long at max psi on a empty truck and cause a hard ride. I found empty psi is good at about 55-60. When carrying max wt. in bed I air up rear to 80 front to 65. I tried 80 in front and its steering is gets all over the road. I try and have most or all of the tread in contact with the road not just the center few inchs. Another point, you likely will not drive it as a police vehicle, I did, and the last was a F250, it had the tpms system. All tires at 80 psi, it would drift across roads on turns at high speed. At 80 psi you could look and see only 1/2 to 1/3 of the tire was in contact with the road. I aired down to 55 front/60 rear, like my own truck.. I stopped faster and no more drifting, the fleet guys first said I should not run under max psi and they found that most of the guys were doing the same as me, they checked with ford, afew weeks later and send out a memo to air down the tires. Remember we did not pull RVs, just some boats.

I run 60-65 in the rears (dually) and 55 up front. that way i don't need to stop and reduce the personal hydrollic pressure going over a bumpy road:D

On our 2012 2500HD truck, with different size tires, but still 80 psi max tires, the label on the truck says 60 psi front, 70 psi rear, and 80 psi spare. When towing the trailer, I usually go about 5 psi over on the front and rear, but the truck empty rides really good on the 60/70 psi settings.

I have a 3500 Dodge Dully, when I am towing (fifth wheel TH) I run 80 PSI in all tires as this is what the tires say. Empty I run 65 PSI as this is what the tires say. I have checked to see if they are hot when towing and they never are.

Just curious ...... Where on your tire does it say to run 80psi towing and 65psi when not towing? I have never seen two different psi ratings stamped on the tire: one for towing and a different one for not towing. But I may need a new prescription for my glasses.......

What the tires usually say, is one pressure, the higher one, for running single, the other pressure, the lower one, for running duals.

It would appear that I really do need a new prescription for my glasses. I never noticed that there really are two different psi ratings- one for single and another for dual on a LT tire. I think a visit to my optometrist to schedule an appointment is on my TO DO list for tomorrow.
