I order my first diesel . 2015 gmc 3500 srw diesel. Does any one have one yet?
wondering what actual mpg are towing and not. I guess the diesel and frame hasn't really changed with new model just all new sweet interior. And they added engine braking. Also if any one plows courious if plow frame and 5 th wheel hitch are the same as a 2012 Chevy thanks

Curious what you paid for it. Chevy is having "truck month" but I'm told you have to take delivery by the end of the month for the good deals so ordering doesn't qualify. If you don't want to post you can PM me. (tx)

If I got a 14 off lot a 58k sticker would be 48. The 15 sticker is 58k they expect it hear in June depends on if gm has any deals I doubt it so they said 3k off sticker but I have a trade so guessing they would knock more off for clean deal. To me I have had 5 07 and newer Chevys I wanted a interior change and thought it worth the money. It's a crew sle not loaded but far from stripped. Heated cloth seats, camera, factory spray in liner

That's not a bad deal. My sticker on my SLT was 58 in 2012. Paid 47k for it. So being 3 years newer and a 3500 sounds like you heading in the right direction

Now that is a Raptor TV, Sorry had to throw that in. That diesel brake was on the 2013, given that and the Allison tow mode you will seldom need to use trailer brakes. When the down hill grades were too much for the Allison just push the button and Raptor is under control without worrying about braking. The plow option I did not select had a heavier front axle and dual alternators with front wiring. AVG MPG over 13 states around 7K miles was around 10 with Raptor pretty well loaded ( no scale data)

Thank you, that's what I saw, 48. They are few and far between where I am so trying to find one on the lot is next to impossible. I'm willing to drive within reason and have been looking within 500 miles. No luck. All the 2500HDs I see have a sticker of 60 around here. Haven't seen a 3500HD to see a sticker. I priced one out on KBB and their "fair purchase price" is 52 - 54 without the rebates/cash back. Thank you again! (tx)

I just bought a 2014 3500 SRW Duramax 4x4 LT from a dealer in Chester Va .
48k out the door with out much haggling. It replaced a 8.1 gasser Suburban that my new trailer out grew.

Heritage? If so you got the only one on the lot because they don't have any now.

I get 10/11 mpg with my fuzion. And my 2012 has the engine brake as well. But as paraptor stated the Allison does a great job.

DEF PITA another thing to play with. First time had some added at first oil change had dealer fill.

Looks like same stuff you buy at any auto store DEF ISO 22241 comes in 2.5 gal container. Second time I was on the road when these messages started coming up more and more something like "FIND NEAREST MOTEL" From what I heard will severely limit your speed when gets real low. Found its much much cheaper for me to pour it in than the dealer :banghead: Like filing windshield fluid. Passenger side near windshield.

DEF last about 5-6k or so. I usually get it filled at oil change, if I add between I get a jug at a GM dealer. Never use bulk def out of the pumps at truckstops. We have issues with our tractors and DEF due to the quality we get even at the big chain truckstops. If you have to buy it outside of a dealer get Blue DEF in the jugs. DEF is easily contaminated and it freezes at same temp as water so condensation can up the water content from storage tanks.

On the PLUS side DEF makes owning and driving a diesel so much better. No smoke, exhaust is virtually odorless and truck is much quieter. My duramax burns cleaner than my wife's Honda CRV.

Thanks, forgot to mention the name Blue Def, in stores around here there is not a variety only have seen Blue Def. Dealer rep said to make sure it has this ISO #. The Blue Def that I bought was in in plastic container in a box with a attachable spout very easy to fill and store

Good info on these truck stops, have not and probably would not have tried them for other reasons like spilling it all over the place from the tank. Come to think of it did see only Blue Def at that one truck stop

Also if by chance you do run out of DEF. DO NOT shut your truck down, when you restart it will be in the derated mode. You can run it for some time without DEF and it will run normally, but I wouldn't go any farther than needed as the filter can clog and that can get expensive to replace.

Your DEF tank has a heater line in it, when its cold that will start to heat and thaw out the large block of frozen DEF so it normally runs without it when you first start it up. Next winter. kick the DEF tank.. hard as rock.
If you get DEF with high water content it will corrod the heater line and cause it not to work and you will have issues.

I get my def from NAPA. Walmart has it as well for 12$. For 2 1/2 gallons. I buy two at a time. Pour one in and keep the other at the house or in the bed of the truck(bed cover). I add if when it at 10%. Then pick up some more. The dealer here wants 45$ for 2 1/2 gallons. I use blue def. Brand

These rigs using DEF are tuned to run leaner, and the DEF is injected into the exhaust to reduce NOX in the exhaust. There is a catalytic reaction that the DEF works to do all this. These rigs also have a systems that traps soot, and will go into a regen cycle that has to happen when the engine is hot and running to burn off the soot. So, with both of these systems, the fuel mileage is amazing, we get 22 mpg on the highway without the trailer, and anywhere between 9 and 13 with our Montana in tow.

I took the plunge last weekend and traded in my 2006 3500HD for a new 2015 3500HD with the Duramax/Allison Tran. It gets delivered tomorrow. 52K. A trip next week is planned for about 1200 miles. Short break-in drive. I'll let everyone know what I think after I get back. I've owned a Duramax ever since they come out in the Chevy trucks. Each one has been better than the other.:)

I was wondering if these prices you guys are quoting are for a 2 or 4 wheel drive truck?

Mine is 4 wheel drive, crew cab, diesel/Allison tranny and dually with long bed. My personal opinion is the best truck to pull a Keystone Raptor loaded with toys"bouncey:

I use Blue DEF as well, can get the stuff just about anywhere that sells parts/oil these days. I typically grab a couple jugs from Walmart when I buy my Delvac for the next oil change. I've heard a lot of people say to buy 2010 or earlier to avoid the DEF, but it is such a minor thing to deal with, those who give that advice have never owned one.

Additionally, the exhaust brake has been around since 2011 model same as the DEF. You will love the 2015!

I got mine all hooked up yesterday and ready to go on a Tenn. Tour for a few weeks. I finally got tired of the low battery problem problem I've had on this 5er and put a battery shutoff switch in that kills all 12volt coming into batts and out. I'll be testing for the next few days to see if that stops my battery drain!:banghead: Or I'll be buying some more batteries!

I love my 2013 Chevrolet 2500 HD.... The blue DEF is really no big deal.... cheaper to add yourself than to have the Dealership to add. After changing the Cold Air Induction and Exhaust.... I am getting 22 MPG.... (not pulling) 13-15 pulling the Fuzion..... Which I am quiet happy... I did not expect...

Keep in mind DEF has a shelf life which gets much shorter with heat. Starts at 2yrs and if left in box of truck in southern temps it can be as short as 2months.

Hi Jeff,

I agree about the DEF. Just pour it in every few thousand miles. Not very expensive.

Which intake and exhaust did you install?

2015 Chevy Silverado - Crew Cab - 4x4 - Duramax/Allison.

Towed Laredo (About 12.5k loaded) to Dover, De and back - avg 11.3mpg. Used 2.5 gal of DEF - dealer obviously did not fill it prior to delivery, as I had to top it off at 900 miles.

Took the new 2015 Chevy 3500 on a 1400 mile trip with our Raptor 332 TS and I am quit pleased. My 8 yr old Chevy dually 3500 crew cab was an exceptional truck, but I'm glad I updated. This thing has some balls. I had no problem pulling any of the mountains on I-75 headed south. Once we got of the road we had no problems pulling the mountain trails, some at 7 to 8 degrees and no heated tranny which got 156 degrees one time. I did use more DEF than expected. 75% at 700 miles, but I don't know that it was full when I started the trip. My 2006 was much quieter than anything on on the road back in 2006, but I'm saying this 2015 compares to my Prius. Unbelievable how much less noise this new truck makes:) I am HAPPY.
