Battery disconect switch ?

we just got a 2009 302 Fuzion , I am getting everything figured out but have a question. When you walk in on the right hand side about 12 inches off the floor there is a push pull switch which is labeled battery disconnect. When it is in either position there is no effect on the 12v lights ect . What is its purpose?

If you were plugged in to 110V AC and you pushed the switch to "OFF", it shouldn't have made any difference to your lights. If you weren't plugged in when you tested this Battery Disconnect switch then the lights should have gone off - providing the switch is working and properly connected to the batteries.
