Towing - Single or Double Axle?

Getting ready to be a full time rv'er and towing our Alpine 3555RL around the country. Need suggestions on a tow vehicle, so far were leaning toward the Ram 3500 either single or DW. Which would be better? And whats everyone else towing with?

Had a Chevy 2500HD SRW and towed a 3700RL, had some sway and didn't like the feel. Needed a new ride and got a 2014 GMC 3500HD DRW and don't regret it. No matter which brand go for DRW.

As full-timers you'll typically have/carry (& add) more *stuff* than the average RV'er.

Your 3555RL had a dry pin weight of 2,525 lbs (prior to any options added or modifications), and a GVWR of 15,500 lbs.
At 39+ ft long, that's a 'big' 5th wheel!

Compare the load/payload capacity and the rear axle ratings on the SRW vs DRW... chances are, the DRW will be needed.

Duels are the only way to go carrying that kind of weight, I think if you ever have a blow out on the TV, you have another tire to back you up..."bouncey:

HI I know folks that have towed with both and I also go along with the others drw i am so happy When i trades up from srw to drw. better ride no sway.

Get a DRW truck, I've read way too many stories about people buying campers too large for the tow vehicle, if I had too do it all over again my next truck will be a dually"bouncey:

Lots of camping with a srw 3500 with air bags , but a blowout is always on my mind so I just take it easy.
