I have a question I don't know that it could be answered easily. But what's the difference in a wheel rated for 100 psi and one 110 psi? And I'm not taking 10 psi lol. I'm mean what makes the higher psi rim rated for higher psi?

Thanks

Design and testing of the rim material and tire by the manufactures and what they are willing to certify them at. I know that when I was designing products they were always over designed and certified for a certain load/pressure than they were tested at. This allowed for growth of the overall product and to insure that the component would live to the end of its useful product life.

There's probably very little difference in the two wheels. Rating and Certification are NOT the same thing. As I understand the terms, rating is what the engineers designed a product to do and the manufacturer says it can do. Certification is what the product has been proven to do in lab testing.

As Jim said, most items are "overdesigned" to make sure they will "survive" the problems, accidents and damage expected during a "normal life" of the product. Almost all products are built that way, well, maybe except for ST tires ?????

Thank you, that is a good explanation. I only ask because my wheels are rated max psi of 100 and I couldn't see my wheels and wheels rated at 110 psi being all that different.
