I just got my 99 Springdale 5th wheel, 24 ft, weights 4700# dry......I will be towing it with a 97 GMC 1500 4x4, that gets about 16-17 mpg by itself....Anyone doing similar and what kind of mileage can I expect?
thanks

Tell us what engine and rear axle gears you have those make a difference.

Its a 350 (5.7litre)...3.73 gears with an OD trans...at 50mph, it runs at about 1700 rpm in OD

I had 2012 5.7 with a 3.73 and was towing a 5700 dry weight TT and got around 9 to 10 miles per gallon.

My old 2001, 6.0L auto with OD, 4X4, 3:73 Diff and stock size tires would get between 6 and 7 MPG pulling a smaller 5er than I have now. The problem is the frontal area of the 5er it acts like a wind brake as you tow this on the highway. You also need low end torque instead of the high end torque that a gas V8 engine makes. to have better fuel mileage, just my humble opinion.

The OP is Canadian, so we may be measuring different gallons......?

:banghead: 7-10 MPG's on a good day. With a head wind it's terrible!

lol...I converted to US gallons for you folks.....no sense making it more confusing.
Just like comparing gallons to litres, eh? Or mpg to kpl? :D

Up here, rather than miles per gallon, its litres per 100 kilometers........never could grasp that one, so I convert back to miles per US gallon.....makes more sense to me

Pull a '14 Montana 3100RL with '01 Dodge diesel. Trailer weighs just over 12000 as is with empty tanks. 20-22 mpg empty; 11-13 loaded but never over 65 mph.
