I've been traveling and living in the Raptor since May, 2013. I get dizzy at times and have symptoms similar to Vertigo. Doctor is checking me out but is this something that others get during lengthy RV living??

I'm sure by now you have heard there can be many causes of vertigo/dizziness. My wife has been having problems for over a year. They believe hers has been related to migraines. A friend of mine had problems with crystals that formed on the hairs of the inner ears. Some of the crystals broke loose and were floating around. That was causing his problems. The best advise I can give is find a good doctor and be ready for lots of test. Good luck.

Nus, funny you should ask! Went to Dr complaining about vertigo and got a huge lecture on the diff between being dizzy and vertigo. Short story long, after bazillion tests (including having 30+ electrods taped to my head for 5 days) the decision was migraine. I used to laugh at people who claimed to have a "migraine" (it's just a headache for goodness sake!) I do NOT laugh now.

NO Migraines and nary a headache...guess I'll be looking at those bazillion tests. Can't wait for the chair spinning, now that is original...

Could it be an issue with the camper?

Some people have had issues with the off gassing from the glues and carpets used in campers.

You might try a forum seasrch about Carbon Monoxide. One of the members had a problem with his toy-hauler - the onboard generator was leaking exhaust into the trailer. Good luck and be careful!

I guess everybody has their vertigo story....my first experience was 15 years ago and intense. I was at work and in a meeting when it hit. I didn't know what was happening to me. I hoped no one noticed. I went to the medical center after the meeting. They couldn't find anything wrong. Went to my doc and he prescribed a sea sick med. My pharmacist said the over the counter was the same thing. I went to a specialist who gave me some exercises like hanging my head off the bed. I couldn't tell any difference. Long story short....I gradually got better with no meds. The episodes became farther apart and milder. I can't remember my last episode.
I hope yours ends as well.

When I was a kid, we had a houseboat. After being out on the boat for a couple of weeks, I would experience a rocking sensation when back on land., especially when I sat at the breakfast bar on a tall stool. I think this is pretty common, coming off a boat. I suppose a motor home could create a similar result.

Nus, I've never had a "head ache". The symptoms were dizzy, noise would become "annoying" even the radio and my eyesite would be "odd". Not much help I guess, but even in the worst attack I never felt a headache. Good luck.

My wife is the same way. She very seldom gets headaches, just the dizziness.

Have a look at this http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/menieres-disease/DS00535. My wife has serious bouts with this disease.

I went through bouts of dizziness, ringing in my ear, and weird vision, and after, as someone else said about a hundred tests, the Doctor said I had Meneire's Disease. Several things they did for me, were Antivert(meclizine), and a diuretic. Didn't eliminate the problem but made the number of incidents fewer and far between. However, there are many causes of dizziness, regardless whatever its cause, it is a real pain in the posterior.
The best part is they said it would eventually stop, and fortunately it did. The problem with Antivert is when taking a sufficient dose to stop the episodes, just made me sleep.

I have delt with vertigo for years now, but am glad to say that I haven't had a bad case in a long time. I use to have it so bad that I was unable to get out of bed for days at a time. I too was taking Meclizine and still keep some handy if I even feel a little dizzy. Like others have said, I had test done along with cat scans. My doctor was about to send me to a neurologist when he suggested maybe trying a chiropractor. I opted to try the chiropractor before going to the neurologist because of the cost. After about 4 - 5 weeks of treatments I am glad to say I have been free from any bad bouts. I still have an occasional dizzy spell that only last a minute or two.

My sister in law had the crystals that had moved. True stuff and took her many doctors, all with different diagnosis and pills, before the Mayo clinic figured it out.
