So I had this happen last week:

Looking at new rims and tires, seems like most of the alum. rims are rated at 3500# or so. I've weighed several times and never had a rear axle weight over 6300# fully loaded so I think I should be OK.

Anything I am missing?

Sorry for your loss. What is your insurance company willing to provide? I would make sure that your tire/rim will support your load adequately and is compatible with the placard that list your rear/front gross axle weights; IE 5200 LBS front axle/6010 Rear axle something like that.

I would than install wheel locks on your truck if you store the truck and camper.

That sucks !! Seems to be a lot of rim thefts lately !!
