DW and I took a day trip today to check out a couple of local COE parks. I filled up the truck as we left and again when I got back so I could get a feel for why MPG. It came out to 16.5. When I filled up both times, I let the nozzle shut off by itself and didn't try to "squeeze" any extra. Does this seem right for this truck on the hwy? BTW it has the 3.73 gear. I just got my Retrax bed cover put on yesterday but I don't know how much effect it has since this is the first time I've checked mileage. Also, that number was figured by hand. The onboard computer shows me getting 14 MPG so I already don't trust it.Does this seem about right for this truck?

I would say that looks really good. My 6.0 Chevy gets about 15mpg on the highway....7.5mpg when I'm working with it pulling a 17ft enclosed trailer.

Not sure if you're just looking for late model info. but my '05 gets 16 mpg unloaded at 70 mph hwy.

Bob,

I have the same year, make and features on my F250 as yours. Mine only has 1000 miles on it. Have not had it on a road trip yet but around town I average about 12 MPG. I have a friend who has the same rig with 32,000 miles on it. He averages about 14 MPG around town and 10 MPG pulling his 28 foot trailer.

Will take my first trip in our trailer first of May to Sister's Oregon to do some fly fishing. Can't wait.

Bob -
I haven't looked but am wondering if you have checked with Edmunds or Trailer Life to see if they have road tested your truck and have some mileage figures for comparison. If you haven't, it might be worth looking into to obtain some fairly reliable test results data???

The tonneau isn't going to have any noticeable effect on your MPG, in spite of what the manufacturers say.

We get about 15.8 mpg on the highway in our 2012 F250, so your mileage seems good. We have a BakFlip tonneau cover on the truck and it doesn't seem to affect the mpg.
